Tirumala temple has one of the highest number of visitors (annual) in India. We were invited to prepare an Urban Design proposal for Tirumala core area by HMDA. Following are salient features of the proposal: - Redesign of Mada streets (procession streets) around the main temple complex, such that the streets (along- with built edge) define a new outer prakaram (enclosure) for the core. - Introduction of pedestrian approach street to the temple core area. - Reconstruction of thousand pillared mandapam. - Relocation of Kalyana mandapam & laddu potu to outside the temple complex.
